'Transformers' leads a pack of highlights for retro gamers

(Available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii and DS). As a longtime fan of those robots in disguise, I was impressed with this effort far more than the failed ones before it. It’s pretty simple to pick up, has a bunch of different modes (from two separate single-player story missions to online multiplayer melees), and is filled with characters us geeks grew up with. Autobots like the big cheese Optimus Prime (voiced yet again in classic fashion by Peter Cullen ), Bumblebee, Warpath and Ironhide are playable characters, as are Deception leader Megatron and his minions such as Soundwave, Starscream and Thundercracker. And even better, their robot forms and Cybertronian vehicle forms they do battle in are more like the old cartoon and toy versions that we all remember from our youth, rather than the odd alien-type looks they have in the recent movies. Laying waste to many an Autobot as Megatron made me want to play more games revisiting my childhood, so read below for

Transformers TakaraTomy Japanese Classics Figure Voyager C-01 Optimus Prime

Takara

Product Description

Takara will modify the paint schemes on all the Japanese Classics figures. They are introducing completely different paint on Megatron and Astrotrain, and the other figures all will have chrome added along with slightly different designs to their paint scheme. Classics Optimus Prime looks a little like a mixture between the Gen 1 concept and that of the Dreamwave War Within series. Prime is equipped with his Laser Gun, and a second larger blaster rifle contained with a transformable back plate. The truck mode is an armored juggernaut geared for the annihilation of Decepticon obstacles. Optimus Primeâ?TMs Classics profile portrays him as an archetypal hero, a reluctant warrior and an ultimate countermeasure to Megatronâ?TMs destructive appetites. Cannily, Prime is described as the personification of justice and the measuring stick of all other heroes.

Transformers Universe Classics Voyager Class and gt; 2008 SDCC Comic-Con Nemesis Prime Action Figure

Hasbro

  • 2008 Comic Con Convention Exclusive
  • Only available to attendees of the convention
  • Not Available in Stores

Product Description

The SDCC 2008 Nemesis Prime utilizes the Classics Voyager Class Optimus Prime mold rendered in the established Scourge/Nemesis Prime teal and black color scheme. Nemesis Prime has malign red eyes, and appears to have semi-opaque blue windshields. Nemesis Prime features a modernized truck mode with smoke stacks and roof fairing components that transform into separate guns. In Nemesis PrimeâTMs robot mode, the two guns can be combined to form a larger shoulder-situated weapon. This version of Nemesis Prime was a lowly warrior tortured by Straxus and ultimately reconstructed into a flawed Optimus Prime clone imbued with memory engrams and combat algorithms allowing Nemesis Prime to desultorily access the knowledge and experience of Optimus Prime. Unfortunately, StraxusâTM cruel experimentation resulted in a monstrously powerful, derangedly aimless warrior that is now remanded to the most squalid shadows of Cybertron, intent upon the destruction of Autobots and Decepticons alike.
